Hello everybody,

Yesterday I finished this pink bucket hat made of tiny cord.

My Ist degree cousin on my father's side, Lalyn, contacted me through FB messenger. She saw my crochet works I posted in FB, she requested me if I can me make her a pink beanie or bucket hat she could wear at dawn to attend Mass to protect her head from cold morning mist. She asked me how much. I answered to her definitely, "yes" and no obligation on her part because I will make it for her as gift. She was so happy.

I missed my cousin so much. I hav'nt seen her in person for about 35 yrs, so, I am glad I can make something for her. I can't forget their family in my whole life especially her father, my Uncle Sitong. As you may know, my birthplace is in Jolo, Sulu. A volcanic island in the southwest Philippines located in the Sulu Archipelago, between Borneo and Mindanao. - Wikepedia.

I attended my grade 1 to gràde 3 elementary there then there was an accident. The brother of my father was shot, we received a telegram from Cebu Island informing my father about the incident. So, our family went home to Cebu. We stayed at my Aunt Gloria's house, the youngest sister of my father, the mother of Lalyn. After a week's vacation my father must report to work plus my uncle was already out of danger. Thus, my father, my mother and brother went back to Jolo. They left me behind. At that time I was too skinny plus I have many parasites in my stomach. So my Aunt Gloria suggested I must stay with them for I year to regain my health. Unknown to me my Aunt was so strict, she always cooked vegetables I hated, big sizes of eggplant, bitter gourd and string beans were placed on my plate and I must all consumed it, the result, I cried and cried during meal. My stomach can't take in especially the bitter gourd even up to now I can't eat that bitter vegetable. Sometimes my Aunt went away to the dining table for her chores, my savior was my Uncle who pitied me, and ate the vegetables on my plate. Hahaha, when my Aunt was back on table she was surprised the vegetables on my plate were gone and she doubted it. Then, my Uncle would vouch I ate the vegetable all! The result of my Aunt's strictness was positive for after how many months I gained weight and parasite free. What a childhood memories that I can't forget.

I started making this pink bucket hat using tiny cord and with 3mm hook.

Round one to round 13 all single crochet.

On the next 13 rounds I changed the single crochet stitch to C2C stitch my version alternating the baby pink color and fuschia pink.

Then with the brim, all double crochet and last rounds of scallop stitch.

Happy with the result. Hope my cousin will like it. I plan to make two more with another design perhaps a plain beanie, I am still searching for a pink colorway her favorite color.

Just until here folks. Hope you like my crochetiful story.
