No army threatens its solid brick walls anymore; there are no pirates, perched on the rigging of their paper ships, that go up the weak current of a pond, whose waters, tame as the forgotten dreams of a childhood that lost its wings centuries ago, only stir restlessly when the ducks soar his course, now that no sentry disturbs his game.
The old fort sleeps and in his dream he imagines that the sons of the old marquises return and once they occupy its taciturn starry walls, he is once again the protagonist of a thousand and one stories. After the dream, he returns to silence: forbidden to disturb old memories.
