In the vicinity of Santoña, also forming part of that arm of the sea that extends inland to form marshes that are characterized by the richness of their great biodiversity, some villages resemble mirages that recall the old stories of cities submerged by a curse, that see the light again on magical dates, such as the early morning of San Juan's day.
It would be the case, for example, of places like Escalante, which, seen in the distance, offer the certain impression that the traveler, due to some physical circumstance that he does not understand, has crossed the borders of rationality and entered a world where even time has stopped, to the point of offering, to his incredulous vision, the glimpse of an instant of eternity.
A glimpse, which is occasionally broken, when the bells of the old church, whose tower protrudes above the roofs of the town, violates the silence and the traveler, nostalgic for the lost moment, returns to reality again.
But it is what spells have: the transience of a star.
