Freedom is usually imagined as an open horizon, a space without borders where the soul breathes without restraint. However, within that infinite capacity to decide lies a silent paradox: we are so free that we can choose our own slavery.
Unlike in other eras where chains were imposed by foreign hands, today servitude is often a work of personal design, signed in silence with our own consent.

No one forces us to check our phone screens with compulsive anxiety, nor to inhabit routines that extinguish our inner spark, nor to sustain lifestyles shaped only to please an indifferent audience. We choose it. We design commitments that overwhelm us and adopt ambitions that never belonged to us.
Without realizing it, we become artisans of our own bonds when we embrace:

The most subtle form of captivity is one where the prisoner smiles, believing they are free. When we choose our own prison, complaint becomes impossible, for there is no external oppressor to blame; the key and the lock have always been in our hands.
However, recognizing that we were the builders of those walls is not a reason for guilt, but the seed of awakening. If we had the freedom to erect the cage, we retain intact the very same strength to tear it down.
In the end, true freedom consists not only in the ability to choose, but in the wisdom not to choose that which steals our light.
