Footsteps are heard.
They come with the night.
They climb the old stairs of a dark room.
The wind blows through the window, stirring the white curtains.
A lit candle in a corner flickers its flame.
Whispers are heard in the suspense of waiting.
Who's walking? Who's whispering? Who's walking?
The night speaks from somewhere.
The footsteps want to reach it and whisper within it.
They want to close the windows and turn off the candle.
The night wants to be darker and more gloomy.
The sounds of fear increase in the hallways.
The fear of a feline sniffs near the kitchen.
The mice scurrying from one side to the other hide.
The roosters crow and dawn appears.
And the wind continues to hit that painting, hanging by a thread.
It hits itself against the wall like footsteps.
