This weekend the largest gathering of LGBTQ people and allies in the US will congregate in Northern California for the 47th Annual San Francisco Pride festival and parade.

I attended last year’s event and took one picture...

Yep. That’s a pile of what appears to be human excrement soaking in the sun next to a discarded cardboard sign.

This picture pretty much summed up my experience at this supposed celebration of “progress.” Then I went home and wrote a poem about it. A poem that I was lucky enough to share at last month’s Alternative View (AV9) conference in England.
