Escribir este post es realmente dif铆cil, no solo como fan谩tico de la Tri sino como fan谩tico del futbol, a pesar de estar consciente desde la fecha pasada que cualquier cosa podr铆a ocurrir en este grupo, mi alma de hincha estaba vestida de Amarillo junto a la gran mayor铆a de Ecuatorianos. Parecer谩 absurdo el comentario, pero el futbol no es un deporte de merecimientos, y ya lo hab铆a dicho Ecuador jugaba una final tras otra en este mundial, ning煤n partido seria f谩cil y no exist铆a un colch贸n que le permitiese una derrota.
It was really difficult to write this post, not only as a fan of La Tri but also as a futbol lover, even though I was aware since last week that anything could happen in this group, my soul as a fan was dressed in yellow along with the vast majority of Ecuadorians. It may seem absurd, but soccer is not a sport of merits, and as I had already said, Ecuador played one final after another in this World Cup, no game would be easy and there was no margin that would allow a defeat.

Una derrota hoy ante Senegal fue suficiente para acabar con el sue帽o mundialista de La Tri, selecci贸n a la que vengo siguiendo, estudiando y por supuesto alentando desde que llegu茅 a Ecuador, una selecci贸n que a pesar de no estar en Rusia 2018 mostraba destellos de grandeza y m谩s que individualidades, un grupo de j贸venes provenientes del ahora Bi-Campe贸n de la sudamericana Independiente del Valle, y de la selecci贸n Sub-20, unos talentosos que incluso hablando desde el dolor de la eliminaci贸n, puedo asegurar que todo Ecuatoriano deber铆a estar orgulloso de la camada de figuras que tienen representando a su camiseta y que aunque todos queremos fiesta y celebraci贸n, el respeto y la admiraci贸n por esta selecci贸n es m谩s que merecida.
One loss today against Senegal was enough to put an end to the World Cup dream of La Tri, a team that I have been following, studying and of course supporting since I arrived in Ecuador, a team that despite not being in Russia 2018 showed flashes of greatness and more than individualities, a group of young players coming from the now Bi-Champion of the South American Cup Independiente del Valle, and from the U-20 national team, talented players that even speaking from the sadness of the elimination, I can assure that every Ecuadorian should be proud of the group of figures they have representing their country and that although we all want to celebrate and party, the respect and admiration for this team is more than deserved.
Cuando hablo de que el futbol no es de merecimiento, me niego a que me nuble la visi贸n, el fanatismo y me impida reconocer la gesta de la selecci贸n Senegal茅s, quienes a pesar de por lesi贸n no contar con su estrella, hicieron no uno sino tres partidos espectaculares.
Por otra parte, toda la prensa de Ecuador hablando desde el dolor est谩 alegando faltas aqu铆 y all谩, el juego brusco de la selecci贸n de Senegal y en ocasiones las jugadas peligrosas; Pero hay que reconocer que los Senegaleses tienen ese estilo de juego y es el juego que se juega en su zona, su estado f铆sico fue ampliamente superior a la poca musculatura de la mayor铆a de jugadores de Ecuador y ni hablar de altura en donde hombre a hombre todos son m谩s altos que los sudamericanos, mientras que yo personalmente aplaudo al 谩rbitro por intentar en la mayor铆a de las oportunidades dar continuidad al partido y si tuviese que decir algo solo me har铆an falta un par de amarillas para ambas selecciones.
When I say that futbol is not about deserving, I refuse to let fanaticism cloud my vision and prevent me from recognizing the feat of the Senegalese national team, who despite being without their star player due to injury, played not one but three spectacular matches.

Quiz谩s el saber que un empate era suficiente para avanzar de ronda jugo en contra de la selecci贸n Ecuatoriana, que arranco el partido siendo muy diferente a lo que se hab铆a mostrado, siendo superada en todas las posiciones y con una actitud pasiva en ocasiones, esa necesidad de buscar el partido no se mostraba y los datos lo respaldan, hasta el minuto 30 mientras Ecuador llevaba dos remates al Arco, los Senegaleses llevaban 11, mucho m谩s de los que hicieron Qatar y Pa铆ses bajos juntos hacia la porter铆a Ecuatoriana.
El primer gol seria de Penal en el minuto 45', un penal clar铆simo sobre Ismaila Sarr de Piero Hincapi茅, a quien no se le puede hacer cr铆tica alguna, ya que a pesar de este error, de no ser por su defensa, al igual que contra Pa铆ses Bajos, el resultado ser铆a otro. El Penal muy bien cobrado, pon铆a sobre la mesa un panorama diferente para un Ecuador que se iba al descanso nuevamente perdiendo, pero esta vez eliminados.

Carlos Gruezo y Alan Franco, los dos hombres novedad en la alineaci贸n del Profesor Alfaro, salen en el segundo tiempo e ingresan Jos茅 Cifuentes y Jeremy Sarmiento, este ultimo el jugador m谩s destacado de Ecuador durante todo el partido, por lo atrevido y revulsivo, permitiendo que toda la selecci贸n mostrase nuevamente esa necesidad de la victoria y fuese m谩s opresiva, permitiendo entonces un segundo tiempo mucho m谩s parejo para ambos equipos.
Para el minuto 64' sale Estrada y entra Reasco por Ecuador, hablando claramente de que daba igual perder 5-0 y que la necesidad era de empatar o ganar el partido, todo mundo consciente de que la derrota era eliminaci贸n para cualquiera de las dos selecciones; 3 minutos despu茅s y tras un Ecuador m谩s agresivo llega el gol del Empate al minuto 67 en los pies de Mois茅s Caicedo, pero nuevamente 3 minutos despu茅s y mientras yo a煤n celebraba, Koulibaly sorprend铆a a la defensa Ecuatoriana para el 2-1 final.
Destacar que luego de esto todo el partido lo intento buscar nuevamente Ecuador llegando mucho m谩s y disputando cada bal贸n, sin embargo, no fue suficiente y aunque lo pelearon hasta el 煤ltimo de los 6 minutos agregados el gol no llego, dejando una clara victoria para los africanos.

It is worth mentioning that after this, Ecuador tried again to try to get much more and dispute every ball, however, it was not enough and although they fought until the last of the 6 added minutes, the goal did not come, leaving a clear victory for the Africans.
Este resultado no es solo el fin de la participaci贸n de Ecuador en el mundial, tambi茅n habla del fin de Enner Valencia en la selecci贸n terminando como su goleador hist贸rico, tambi茅n es la despedida al parecer del profesor Gustavo Alfaro que no continuar谩 en la direcci贸n de la Tri y va a marcar un antes y un despu茅s para el Ecuatoriano, y para una selecci贸n que no me atrevo a decir si ira a mejor o a peor en el futuro.
Son momentos duros y de mucho an谩lisis para la Federaci贸n Ecuatoriana de Futbol, quienes ahora a esta eliminaci贸n le suman saber que inician la siguiente eliminatoria con -3 puntos por el caso Byron Castillo y que cada d铆a es menos probable sean sede de la Copa Am茅rica 2024.
This result is not only the end of Ecuador's participation in the World Cup, it also speaks of the end of Enner Valencia in the national team finishing as its all-time leading scorer, it is also the farewell apparently of Professor Gustavo Alfaro who will not continue in the direction of La Tri and will mark a before and after for the Ecuadorian, and for a selection that I dare not say if it will get better or worse in the future.

This also marks the end of my posts about Ecuador and now I will be a spectator for the rest of the World Cup; I leave with a happy heart for having seen this team play in the World Cup and with that bitter taste that chocolate leaves when you want one more bite.
For the next World Cup with 48 teams, I hope to be excited again with Ecuador, more than I surely will be with Venezuela, and maybe the next newsletters will be written from the north of America while I am there enjoying the World Cup. For now 隆Viva Ecuador Carajo!
