As someone who follows ultravioletmag@ultravioletmag and finds value in her spiritual content, this particular drama hit home and made me reflect quite a bit. steevc@steevc thank you for stepping in as a sort of peacemaker and diplomat in this scenario and for this post as I believe it is important to not shy away from this kind of drama as we all can take this time and opportunity to share different perspectives and grow and learn as of a result.

Hive is indeed the frontier to the unknown, the part of the map of collective consciousness marked with terra incognita, a drawing of a sea dragon, and a warning - here be monsters - i.e. all the suppressed archetypes of the collective psyche has free reign here. It takes the brave ones to go and explore the unknown and to face our own shadows upfront. It is intense work, yes, but in the long run, it is well worth it.

I am on Hive because I believe in Hive. I believe in the values that we are trying to uphold here. I believe that we have a lot of growing up to do, but the intentions are good and the potential - vast. Let's try and be the kind of community that takes time to learn from drama, instead of brushing it under the rug, pretending that the other parties 'stink' and move on as if there's nothing to see here. No need for dogfighting either. Just a simple, constructive dialogue. Trying to understand the perspectives. Stepping back and reflecting on how our position might also be viewed differently.

These are the perspectives as I see them. And feel free to correct me if I'm projecting distortions.

It is easy to villainize someone you do not know, don't understand, and don't know their story or their motives.

To the witnesses, orcas, and whales - this IS a cry for help, but one that underlines systemic structural issues that are in the way for Hive mass adoption - this is still a place for tech-savvy, thick-skinned, success-driven crypto-head super chickens and not for regular 'user' normies. It is not intuitive, you have to know the whole library of complete works of history and hero myths of Hive to even dare to get your nose out in more public forums, least you disgrace yourself for not knowing the Hive customs.

And I say this with love, but there's a wake of my generation redfish and minnow skeletons on the bottom of this ocean. And oh, boy were they really promising ones at that. One could argue that - oh well, I guess they were just not cut out for this place, after all, natural selection does its job, or to just blame it on the crash of the price, or just brush it off entirely by saying it was pre-Hive so it doesn't count. But are we really ready to onboard the masses? Do we even know how to reach GenZ, if they are already making the big buck on YouTube and Twitch and to the question - do you know why I am on Hive? - the answer is - Because you have nothing better to do?

And this is not to criticize, because there is no one to criticize, this is to just say - hey, we need to come up with some ideas, we need to come together to brainstorm and work on these things because they will not fix themselves.

Back in the day, I onboarded a select few of my friends, the ones I knew that had it in them to handle this place. Needless to say, none of them have survived the great winter. And I can't go around being the annoying one that only ever talks about - hey, hey, you, pst, have you heard about our lord and savior Hive? - when I know that my 'converts' would not last a day here.

For those of you, who just feel like deeming ultravioletmag@ultravioletmag a spoilt, entitled, ignorant brat and call it a day - she's a really nice person, get to know her. And she obviously cares for the future of the platform. Without knowing the backstory of haejin, one would obviously initially take a downvote personally, and seeing that would surely be demotivating, especially if you have already been feeling like you're fighting an uphill battle.

My only advice for ultravioletmag@ultravioletmag would be - do a bit of digging, find witnesses you feel like you CAN trust, and go vote for some. Without witnesses, we don't have Hive.

If someone is up for some discussions, of how we can collectively help newer fishes feel more welcome, feel free to get in touch. I feel like we have heavily dropped a ball on onboarding people. Or if we don't want new users from all walks of life, maybe we should really rebrand ourselves as the elitist crypto super chickens that throw hurdles on the way for new users, because we want to feel spessjall.

Up to us. As is everything.

Much love!

Hugs&Coffee,
~Josie~
