Over the weekend, I had a long trip from Uyo to Ibadan. Semester break is over, and we need to return to school for the remaining part of our course work.
This time my friend Ambrose joined me, so we travelled together via the same transport company, AKTC. For Nigerians who are from the South and East, most of them are conversant with this transport service. We booked for our tickets on Saturday, a day before the scheduled day's trip which was Sunday.
On Sunday, I and Ambrose arrived the AKTC park at 7:04am, we were supposed to move by 8am. However, we left by 9am, due to conflicting schedules On which bus to use for Ibadan or Kaduna. At a point, all passengers who boarded the vehicle for Ibadan were asked to come down that the vehicle would be use to rather convey passengers going to Kaduna.
We came down, and after some talks and little argument amongst company staff, we were asked to board the same vehicle again. After the drama and loading of passengers' luggage, we left at 9:00am.
It was a long journey, but smooth one. We didn't experience any breakdown or long traffic along the routes except for the one that occurred on arrival within Ibadan City.
We arrived at 8:00pm, the journey took 11 hours. We stopped at Benin, Edo state to eat, I don't know if that was lunch or breakfast. However, we ate in the afternoon hour. I met with people inside the bus from different walks of life who were my fellow passengers. Some students, businessmen, corporate workers, nursing mother etc.
A trip on Sunday seemed faster and more interesting to me, mostly due to the free routes. We arrived at night and as usual, the bike men that took us from the park to our house overcharged us. I'm grateful to God for journey mercies and for a safe trip.
