PREAMBLE

There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it~ 1 Corinthians 10:13

when tribulation comes upon us we must embrace them with thanksgiving, and must not only resign ourselves to the divine will but must also rejoice that God treats us as he treated his Son Jesus Christ, whose life, upon this earth was always full of tribulation. ~ Saint Augustine Of Hippo.

Show me a man that had not suffered great tribulations and I will show you a man who has neither learned nor know the state of his soul. For me, God exists and sees everything we pass through in life. Our Suffering doesn't make him an unloving father.

Why does God allow us to suffer too much in the world?

  1. First, we should know that the world is imperfect and as such we should not expect things to go smoothly.
The fall of our first parents brought suffering to the world. When Jesus Christ came into the world, he suffered tribulations to accomplish his quest on earth. We on our path shouldn't expect less. Most times, these suffering are for our good. God is all unknowing, when he allows us to suffer greatly, it is always for our good. In our eyes, we may misinterpret it as being unloving and caring, but that is never the case.
Let us consider the story of A man who missed a flight that could take him to a contract. While he was crying about the loss of the contract, he learned that the plane he had planned to take had an accident with no survival. At first, he may have thought that God has abandoned him, but in the end, he saw reasons to thank God.

  2. The gift of the WILL.
When we look at it very well, the wars and evils in the world today are done by men. God gave us the WILL to choose good or evil. What we witness in the world are consequences of the actions of those who chose evil over good. So, to say that God permits too much suffering without considering the perpetrators of the evil is to be sentimental. He cannot bend our will to good, He will only prevent certain evil from coming to light, the rest depends on our actions.

  3. Suffering draws us back to God.
When Saul encountered Christ on his way to Damascus, he was made blind, and during his blindness, his errors became known to him and he repented. When we are prospering in our endeavors, we most times glory in ourselves forgetting and rendering little or no Thanksgiving to God, but when tribulations come, we remember God.
Here, we can see that suffering humbles us. As Saint Augustine said, tribulation opens the eyes that prosperity had kept shut. So, sometimes God permits sufferings to come to us, especially when we are deviating from the right part for us to come back to the track.

One thing I am very certain of is the fact that God will not allow anything stronger than us to come to us. He also comes to us during our suffering, but being that his ways are different from ours, we may not feel his presence.

There are many ways to benefit from suffering. We can offer our sufferings to God in atonement for the many times we have offended him, we can also see through it our weakness and work towards amending our lives

For those who do not believe in God, perhaps because of the environment where they grow or the family where they live, it is normal for them to stick to their belief, that there is no God, especially with what is happening in the world. But the fact remains that, the world we live in is imperfect and as such, we shouldn't expect everything to be perfect or go the way we want it. What matters in our life struggle, is our ability to accept the things we can't change while working towards those we can. For example, We can't change the fact that suffering will come our way, but we can change the way the suffering affects us.

In the end, let us be consoled by the words of the scripture in Mathew 11:28,
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
