I like time paradox movies and this is not the first time I've said it here, so today I bring you another one from 10 years ago.
Of course we're talking about Predestination, it's the kind of movie where you think nothing makes sense and if you think about it, the truth is it doesn't (at least not that has been scientifically proven). It's a science fiction movie and about time travel.
The truth is it's not an easy story to digest, in my opinion, and I say this because in the end it leaves you thinking a lot and wanting to spend your whole life studying physics but not even that whole life would be enough to turn a hypothesis into a theory. And if you haven't seen this movie before, what are you doing with your life? Although, that's why I came today, to recommend it. Will the Review I'll do have spoilers? Probably, because I don't know how to do reviews and I don't know how to talk much about something without spoilers, so you're all warned.
Me gustan las pel铆culas de paradojas temporales y esta no es la primera vez que lo digo aqu铆, as铆 que hoy les traigo otra m谩s de hace 10 a帽os.
Por supuesto estamos hablando de Predestination, es este tipo de pel铆cula que t煤 piensas que nada tiene sentido y si te pones a pensarlo, la verdad no lo tiene (al menos no que se haya comprobado cient铆ficamente). Es una pel铆cula de ciencia ficci贸n y de viajes en el tiempo.
La verdad no es una historia f谩cil de digerir, a m铆 parecer, y digo esto porque al final te deja pensando mucho y con ganas de echarte la carrera de tu vida estudiando f铆sica pero ni toda esa vida te alcanzar铆a para convertir una hip贸tesis en teor铆a. Ahora s铆 no has visto esta pel铆cula antes, 驴Qu茅 est谩s haciendo con tu vida? Aunque, para eso vine hoy, para recomendarla. 驴El Review que har茅 tendr谩 spoilers? Probablemente, porque no se hacer reviews y tampoco s茅 hablar mucho de algo sin spoilers, as铆 que ya est谩n todos advertidos.
Going back to the beginning of the film, we start following an agent who works for a secret organization. The first scene is where we see him trying to thwart some kind of event and it doesn't go well at all, from this we find out that they are actually trying to stop a terrorist, 'Fizzle Bomber' they call him.
Yendo a lo primero de la pel铆cula, es que empezamos a seguir a un agente que trabaja en una organizaci贸n secreta. La primera escena es que lo vemos tratando de frustrar alguna clase de evento y no resulta nada bien, a ra铆z de esto nos enteramos de que realmente est谩n tratando de detener a un terrorista 'Fizzle Bomber' le dicen.
Unfortunately, this agent is seriously injured and undergoes facial reconstructive surgery. But what I didn't say is that this agent actually traveled to 1992, the future, after this incident and this is where they do everything to save his life. Here we get the information that he is for an organization that recruits temporary agents and that their mission is to ensure that they travel in time to prevent larger-scale crimes.
Lamentablemente este agente queda muy mal herido y es sometido a una cirug铆a reconstructiva del rostro, ah pero lo que no dije, es que este agente realmente viaj贸 a 1992, el futuro, luego de este incidente y aqu铆 es donde le hacen todo para salvarle la vida. Aqu铆 obtenemos los datos de que es para una organizaci贸n que recluta agentes temporales y que la misi贸n de estos es encargarse de que viajar en el tiempo para evitar crimenes de mayor escala.
But this particular agent apparently broke some law on this last trip he made, as he wasn't allowed to travel there, if I recall correctly. But after recovering from this, the agent is sent on one of his last missions, back in time to the 70's where he meets a writer who he tries to recruit, but not before this same writer tells him everything about his life, and this is where everything gets pretty dark.
Pero este agente en particular al parecer en este 煤ltimo viaje que hizo, viol贸 alguna ley, pues no ten铆a permitido viajar all铆, si es que recuerdo bien. Pero al recuperarse de esto, el agente es enviado a una de sus 煤ltimas misiones, devuelta al pasado en los a帽os 70's donde conocer a un escritor que el mismo tratar谩 de reclutar pero no sin que antes este mismo escritor le contara todo sobre su vida, y es aqu铆 donde todo se vuelve bastante oscuro.
We'll leave it there for people who haven't seen it, but I'll add a couple of things. I already said it was a time paradox, but this one in particular is based on a loop, but the strangest thing about all this is seeing how this whole story stays on the same timeline, I mean it doesn't break or split. Also, what this movie proposes, which they themselves mention as a joke, is the "chicken or the egg" paradox, a paradox that you won't understand until the end of the movie. For me, it's a good movie that I recommend watching if you like science fiction movies.
Lo dejaremos hasta ah铆 para las personas que no lo han visto, pero a帽adir茅 un par de cositas. Ya dije que era una paradoja temporal pero, esta en especial se basa en un bucle, pero lo m谩s extra帽o de todo esto es ver c贸mo se mantiene toda esta historia en una misma l铆nea temporal, quiero decir que no se rompe, ni se fracciona. Adem谩s lo que esta pel铆cula propone que ellos mismos mencionan a modo de chiste es la paradoja de "el huevo o la gallina" paradoja que vas a entender hasta el final de la pel铆cula. Para m铆 es una buena pel铆cula que recomiendo ver si te gustan las pel铆culas de ciencia ficci贸n.
