I want to share what a typical day of eating actually looks like for me, because this is also part of maintaining a normal diet. I started with a pretty simple breakfast: flour tortillas with scrambled eggs and fruit. For lunch, I stuck to my usual routine—carbs, protein, and fiber. Things got more interesting after that, though. Mid-afternoon, I had some ice cream, and at the gym, I was given some mini pancakes to try on the house.
For dinner, some friends treated me to burgers to support a business venture one of them had started. And no, I don’t feel guilty about eating any of those things. In the past, I might have thought that eating this way meant I was “going off plan,” but now I simply enjoy the food. There are days when I eat more strictly and others where ice cream, pancakes, or a burger might pop up—and that, too, can be part of a balanced diet. I no longer want to live feeling like I have to earn or compensate for what I eat; I just want to enjoy it.
