Vegetables To The Sunset
In our heart of steel,
heel of metals
and limbs of gold
we are just green to the world,
shaken in our root
like feathers in the storm
fluffy to the wind,
and unsteady as a castle,
built on the sands.
Our nakedness is hidden,
like a spark in daylight
as tongue rambles,
tweaking about our imperfections!
our eardrums are woozy
trembling from banter
of castigating eyes
but we have stood!
still and still.
Like a bulb, unfurling into enigma
the sun can tell,
we've been smooched by thorn,
torn from life's glee
like an ocean colorless of blue
strength oozes from us,
from our hopeless smiles
to our beautiful scorn.
Look at us!
voiceferously stern
to prove unseeable things
standing rigidly
as vegetables to the sunset!
glittering like a star,
but temporal as a bubble
blooming boisterously on us!
When hooves and staves
stampedes like a thousand chariot
through the swamp
we were buried, deep rooted
awaiting our demise
patiently,
savoring the kill
but then we're born again!
blinking in the morn
unready to die
When all is reborn
and the apocalypse reigns
and lifelessness reeks
aplenty, livid in the nostril.
still, we are healthy.
above all odds,
hoisted victoriously
when everything has embraced
the inevitability of death.
