I think the crazy birthrate we had in the 1940s and 1950s is why Nigeria is currently overpopulated. In reality, I think life was easier and not expensive, and definitely not as "low income" as we currently have it.

As far back as the 1970s, Nigeria was lending money to the IMF, now we're one of the most low income in the world.
