No one likes to lose money, but one becomes even more intentional about it when they're either too broke to afford any loss, or they've lost too much and the pain or imagination of further losses makes them inculcate certain safety habits.
It's peculiar with people, we choose to be safe when they understand the impact or repercussions of danger.
However, every safety measure in the world cannot still stop inevitable losses that we cannot fathom. People cannot prepare for what they cannot fathom, this is why we need luck in life.
No one likes to confirm that they need luck
....People want to believe their safety is 100% dependent on their level of preparedness, but this isn't true. For example, it is impossible to predict the endeavors that'll make one lose money.
You might incur unplanned expenses for being at the wrong place at the right time and vice versa, and we just cannot help it.
Financial emergencies are examples of ways we lose money without preparations, and when an emergency threatens our emergency funds, our life savings, or even futuristic goals and endeavor, we really cannot blame ourselves other than to say we've been unlucky.
The money in our savings doesn't determine the type of emergency or problems we have
If this were so, one way of running into debt would have been to be cut off.
There are people who are unlucky to incur expenses bigger than their savings, while there are people who do not even incur any major financial emergencies in their lifetime.
The circumstances leading to our existence often determine if we'd be lucky or not, and while it's popularly believed that we need to put ourselves in the right position to be lucky, sometimes, we end up unfortunate, irrespective of how financially disciplined we are.
This is proof of how harsh our reality can be
There's no better time to lose money, but there are financial standings we find ourselves in, and losing does not hurt so much.
I've lost a lot of money, but it hurt more when the resources are thin
Having enough resources gives us confidence, not only that, it helps as a shock absorber.
Some people can no longer go into business because of the loss or debt they've incurred previously in business. Nevertheless, the lack of confidence they suffered is because they emptied their reserves or savings and lost it all.
When there are options to fall back on, one might go through Minor setbacks, but comes back stronger and with more experience, but there are some losses we incur and it's checkmate.
Money is not relative, it differs for many people when it comes to loss and the experiences that come with it. Over the past few weeks, I've been making decisions that have constantly led me to lose money outrageously.
The surprising thing is that I make more mistakes in attempts to correct the losses I've incurred, which further creates a compounding loss effect.
We make the most flawed "money decisions" when we're too scared or too happy, and attaining the discipline to stay neutral irrespective is often difficult, it's who we are.
At the end of the day, we cannot predict the future, we can only permutate what's likely and what is not, and there are times we are wrong about it. It's important not to react based on what we're going through, we mostly make things worse in an attempt to make it better.
It is difficult to accept that our financial woes are caused by things we cannot control, but this is life, we cannot control every aspect of loss no matter what we do.
