Jack and Jackie were two weird best friends who did almost everything together. They were both homeless and had no parents to take care of them. They used to live under a cave close to the bush, where they struggled every day to find something to eat. Although they were poor, they always encouraged each other and shared whatever little they had.
One day, the two of them climbed a mango tree to look for some mangoes, but there were none. While they were still sitting on the tree, they noticed some herdsmen coming from the bush with their cows. The herdsmen opened a strange gate and went inside. What surprised Jack and Jackie was the unusual way the herdsmen opened and closed the gate.
Whenever they wanted to open it, they simply said, "Sendergugu," and the gate opened. When they wanted to close it, they said, "Gugulander," and the gate closed immediately.
Jack and Jackie observed everything carefully. Jack became very interested in learning the secret words, while Jackie was more concerned about finding something to eat.
After watching the herdsmen for some time, Jack turned to Jackie and said, "I am so hungry that I cannot endure it anymore. I have to use the same technique to open that gate and steal some food from the herdsmen."
Jackie immediately warned him against the idea.
"Jack, please don't do that. We don't know what might happen if they catch you. Let us find another way to get food," Jackie advised.
However, Jack refused to listen. He believed that stealing a little food would solve their problem. He had been practising the passwords in his mind and was confident that he could open the gate without getting caught.
Later that evening, the herdsmen came out of the gate and left for a while. Jack waited until they were far away before rushing towards the gate. He stood in front of it and confidently said, "Sendergugu!"
To his surprise, the gate opened immediately.
Jack entered quickly and said, "Gugulander!" The gate closed behind him.
Inside, he found plenty of food. There were bags of grain, baskets of fruits, and other things he had never seen in such large quantities. His stomach rumbled at the sight of the food. He quickly began gathering everything he could carry.
Jack packed as much food as possible into a big bag he had brought with him. He was so excited that he forgot about the danger Jackie had warned him about.
When he had finished stealing all he could carry, he lifted the heavy bag and hurried towards the gate. He was already imagining how happy he and Jackie would be when they returned to their cave with so much food.
However, as he stood in front of the gate, he suddenly realised that he had forgotten the password that opened it.
He tried to remember the word, but nothing came to his mind.
"Sendergugu! Sendergugu!" he shouted.
The gate remained closed.
Then he mistakenly said, "Gugulander!"
The gate closed even more tightly.
Jack became frightened. He continued repeating the words, hoping that one of them would work, but the gate refused to open. The more he panicked, the more confused he became.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching from a distance. His heart began beating faster when he realised that the herdsmen were returning.
He tried the password again, but it was too late.
The herdsmen arrived and immediately noticed that something was wrong. They said, "Sendergugu!" The gate opened, revealing Jack standing inside with a large bag filled with stolen food.
"What are you doing here?" one of the herdsmen shouted angrily.
Before Jack could explain himself, the herdsmen rushed towards him. They beat him mercilessly, took the stolen food away, and threw him over the gate.
Jack landed on the ground, exhausted and badly hurt. He struggled to stand up and slowly made his way back to the cave.
When Jackie saw him, he quickly rushed over and supported his arm. He helped Jack back into the cave and cleaned his wounds.
After Jack had rested for a while, Jackie looked at him and said, "I warned you not to steal, but you refused to listen. You could have lost your life because of your greed. Instead of looking for shortcuts, why don't you join me in the work I do? I clean people's cars at the garage and earn a little money. It may not be much, but at least it is honest."
Jack felt ashamed of himself. He realised that Jackie had been right all along. From that day, he decided to change his ways.
He began helping Jackie clean people's cars and machines at the town square. The work was difficult, and the money they earned was small, but they remained determined. They saved every little amount they could until they had enough money to open a small communication shop where people could pay to charge their phones and other devices.
Their business gradually attracted more customers, and their savings began to grow. Whenever they made a profit, they saved some money and invested the rest in another small business.
They continued working hard, saving money, and opening new businesses. Whenever they saved enough, they would establish another business and employ someone to manage it.
Within a short period, Jack and Jackie owned about twenty different businesses in the town. Their lives changed completely, and they became successful members of their community. They were now counted among the top ten business owners in the area.
