I'm not a big fan of short films because many times they are not very explicit and are made under the premise of intense critics that can't be developed in a short time, however there is always a first time, and Backstory has managed to change my opinion because of its beautifully developed cinematography.
The backstory is a short film that takes us through the life of a young man from the day he is born until the day he dies, letting us fantastically explore the most important moments of his life, so that we feel committed to him and to the things I experience.
The short film is fascinating because of the way it is constructed, telling us and letting us walk through the life of a man in full, seeing every moment of joy, anger, pleasure, and sadness that marked a man during his existence. Throughout the shortfilm we can feel different sensations and feelings that are transmitted by a man who puts his life in a public context, sharing everything without wanting to be the protagonist, even if it is.
The story is impressive because despite being told quickly has an excellent rhythm that does not let us overlook anything, something combined with a beautiful photography and atmosphere gives a twist of excellence to this film.
The most outstanding things of this short film is the plot line, that is to say the way in which the facts are told, mainly because its protagonist is the one who tells everything, transmitting what he felt when each thing happened. This is something that makes us connect a lot with the film and makes it very emotional. But undoubtedly the highest point of the film is the final retrospection where the protagonist the conclusions and opinions he has regarding life, telling us insides of each experience and making us know that each moment was worth it, and that every moment of his life was marked by love.
This is one of the most beautiful film and with better direction that I have seen, here there are no pretensions or assumptions, the film transmits perfectly the life of a man, without using artificial tools to make it stand out, focuses on the story to achieve a fantastic result, and achieves it magnificently.
