Rarely, the auroras that normally consist of vaporous and brilliant forms happen to behave in a very different way, they blink in the form of diffuse parts that appear and disappear in the sky every few seconds.
These are the so-called pulsating auroras, as we know they are undocumented but, nevertheless, we discovered what could be their origin in the present year, that we can study them for the first time from space.
It was discovered that pulsating auroras are caused by an intermittent cascade of highly energetic electrons that come from the so-called chorus waves, a space-related plasma wave that propagates almost parallel to the magnetic field, it has been discovered that they supply energy to the electrons so that they end up dispersing intermittently until they reach the upper atmosphere producing these peculiar auroras.
