The great commission...
Matthew 28:19-20...
This was Jesus' last request of His disciples before ascending to heaven.
And it's one of the biggest struggles I've had to overcome on my Christian walk.
Here's why....
We are told to go out into the world...And teach all nations!
Teach them about God. Teach them about Jesus. Teach them about the good news...
But that ends up being VERY uncomfortable because you immediately become 'one of those Christian'...The 'bible thumper', the preacher, the in your face with my faith gospel worker....
And in 2020 that can be VERY un-politically correct lol
So what are we to do?
Ignore our great calling? Ignore the bible? Ignore Jesus?
Absolutely not...But I think how we PRESENT the gospel...Matters.
Here's something I have learned that I think works great...Come to people, where they are.
For example...
I will never hit people right off the bat with righteous talk. Demands to repent. Or even Sabbath truth.
That will scare people away and to be brutally honest, you could very well end up with an enemy rather than a brother or sister in Christ.
So go on THEIR level.
Think about Paul's mission work...People didn't go to him, he went to were they where and spoke to them with examples and customs that they understood.
We can practice that!
I share my faith in a non-confrontational way. I discuss topics with them that we SHARE.
And build on that! It's never, here's what the bible says...Right away. Ask probing questions about different topics...
The bible has it all...Love, adventure, mystery, prophecy, history, pain, suffering, victory, sin, science, war, leadership...ANY topic can be turned into a bible study, you just need to know HOW to present it without being 'one of those Christians'!
To me, this is the 'human' way to present the truth in a friendly and non-confrontational way.
