It's a quote from Mike Tyson (apparently)....
"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face..."
Or something along those lines lol
Meaning, we all have the best intentions when we're getting started!
We have goals, dreams and aspirations....Until life happens!
This may not be the most politically correct way of framing this, but I cringe when I hear excuses in entrepreneurship.
"I don't have enough money to invest in myself..."
"I don't have the skills needed..."
"Success isn't for me because...."
Here's the truth, life happens. And things are going to suck when you are trying to build a business for yourself. There are no guarantees here and it's really hard for someone who is used to punching a clock to make the switch to 'entrepreneur mindset'!
I've always said for years, that entrepreneurs bust their butts and work 50-60 hours a week...For the OPPORTUNITY to earn a living. Not a guarantee.
Try explaining that to someone who is used to a 9 to 5 and they make claim they're ready, but then you get punched in the face.
I want to share with you my personal story that I'm going through right now, and it's not a pity party, it's actually something I didn't even notice until today in the CTP Discord.
As you guys know, I've been moving homes for the past month and a bit. Things didn't go as smooth as we thought, so I ended up having to power down some Hive in order to pay for some unexpected costs of brand new home ownership.
Woe is me? Heck no!!! I'm so damn grateful that I have busted my butt on the blockchain over the past few years to be able to actually have access to the funds I needed. Blessed and beyond thankful for this amazing community. Sure, I hate powering down. But alas, life happens.
But then you get punched in the face LOL
I figured everything would be fine after these unexpected costs were taken care of, only to find my brand new basement...Flooded LOL
You can't make this stuff up!
We woke up to about an inch of water in our basement, and it's been a constant for the past 4-5 days. We're getting it taken care of, but alas...Some unexpected costs first and then a flooded basement.
So I shared in the CTP Discord that this happened and the community sent me their well wishes.
Then it happened...
I wrote:
"Meh, it could always be worse!"
And then @lisamgentile1961 replied:
"You have a fabulous attitude. Pretty amazing."
Huh....lol That took me by surprise because to me...Things can ALWAYS be worse. Some folks are going to bed tonight with nothing to eat. Others are trying to find that last few hundred bucks for their mortgage or rent or else they will be on the streets. And I'm going to sit around and complain about some water in my basement?
Hell no lol
Sure, it sucks...But that's life!
If it wasn't an adventure, life would be pretty boring after all?
I'm not saying we shouldn't prepare for the worst and / or plan for unexpected costs in life, however we should always remember that things aren't guaranteed tomorrow. And if you are an entrepreneur, get ready for some punches in the face, a few low blows and a heck of a lot of jabs....
But to be honest....I wouldn't want it any other way lol As weird as that may sound...Because when you do win...It makes it that much sweeter :)
