If you want to spend a few minutes catching up with Jongo, you are in luck...
I'm sitting in a hotel room right now and thought I'd give all you amazing Lions some insight into my life these days. I know, I know...It's absolutely fascinating stuff lol
But tomorrow is a big day in my life because I'm actually going to be 'doing' the job I was hired for almost 3 months ago lol Let me explain...
I was hired as a truck driver for my church, which routinely takes a semi-trailer around Western Canada and sets up shop. Inside the trailer, we sell bibles, books, gifts and a lot of health food options. It's a pretty big deal for my church and really helps us spread the good news and all!
Problem was, the regular truck driver had retired last year and they had been searching for someone new since then....Along comes Jongo! And even though I was hired in February, I spent the first month learning the store and the systems and last month went on a trip to deliver goods.
Tomorrow is the day that the 'bookstore' goes in service and I get to not only drive the truck, but also become the retail salesman for all the goods we offer...In the semi-trailer lol
It's a pretty slick little set up, and I personally can't wait to meet with people and talk....Bibles and books with them. I know, that may not seem exciting for some but this is why this truly has become the perfect job for me...
I love to drive.
I love to read.
I get to combine these two passions and presto...New career :)
This is just the warm up though, because I will only be set up for two days, then back to the store to re-stock. Then next week, I drive down to the southern part of the province and set up shop for 2 days again.
But the real fun begins this summer....
2-3 week long trips, driving the mobile store around all of Western Canada. Multiple times over the next few months. Which is what I really got hired for....So I'm excited to get started on this little trial run tomorrow.
Last year I spent a ton of time in the trucks driving around America, so this is a little bit different. Even what I'm hauling, because last year it was all flat bed, pipe and industrial products....Now it's food as well as books, which means....A reefer (freezer on a trailer) is needed.
Guess who knows nothing about reefers?? This guy LOL
You should have saw me today trying to climb up on top of the trailer to put coolant in it....What a sight. Anywho, here's praying that things go smoothly with the new adventure. And that people really enjoy getting the mobile store back to their communities.
And that's what's up with Jongo these days LOL
Exciting stuff, I know ;)
