Yes, that is pretty much what I have learned over the years as well. Sticking to specific numbers as targets or supports doesn't really work in the real world. Supports and resistances are ranges and need to be treated as such when trading, though I don't do much trading. Like you mentioned I try to simply buy over sold support areas and sell when things get overbought at/near resistance levels. Unfortunately that doesn't leave me much room for stop losses, which is where position sizing comes into play.
