Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter has been a man to keep an eye on lately, most recently he started appearing regularly on B-Real's (Cypress Hill) "Dr. Greenthumb" podcast, a show in which copious amounts of marijuana is smoked and all manner of topics discussed.
He also appeared on a number of relatively small podcasts in which he touched upon his scepticism about the current covid crisis and insinuate "we don't live on a spinning ball". In the past week Stephtone appeared on Sam Tripoli's "Tin Foil Hat" podcast and this is where the inevitable backlash occurred.

Stephen clearly has his own views, which he's entitled to. Ironically this "twilight zone" reality he states we are living in is completely evident when reviewing this twitter thread showcasing the absolute lack of nuance or respect shown towards literally any view which opposes the perceived consensus.

I'm no "flat earther", but I'm open minded about listening to people who hold those views. As a "simulation theory" guy, once you go down that road this topic becomes a legitimate concept for discussion in the context of humanity's field of perception. So simply announcing 'I'm not listening to this guy's music again', based on a bunch of relatively harmless opinions you don't necessarily agree with strikes me as the attitude of a moron.
It'll be interesting to see how this develops, and I do wonder what the feelings are of other members of the band since Stephen has made moves into the "conspiracy" world.
