Hello and good morning all..I was looking through my phone's photos to find something to post and found this piece. A 6ft tall heron relief.
Birds are one of my favorite animals to carve, especially herons.
This is where I was just starting out on the piece. I'll mark the wood first with a log crayon and step back to make sure it looks right.
Saw work complete here, just a bit of sanding to do.
Finish work consists of burning it with a torch, scraping the char off with a wire brush and then flap sanding the entire piece.

Sanded smooth, I kind of liked it better like this but didn't realize it until I painted it..
I am my own worst critic but that doesn't matter. What matters is that the customer likes it and they in fact did. Sold fast..
