Hivediy Community Contest || Cosmetics Holder

Participating in a contest where craft is involved, helps an individual bring out his or her creativity. It's a way of expressing one's innermost thoughts and feelings through the medium of art. That is why I decided to join in Hivediy Community contest of making a cosmetics holder plus I want to challenge myself also.

One of the rules of the contest is that it should be in a tutorial mood so I'll be representing to you how I made my cosmetics holder step by step.

I was thinking about how to do it since I have this little time, I decided to choose sewing rather than crocheting. And as I was making this tutorial, I was a little anxious because the electricity was still out due to typhoon "Odette". Many trees were being destroyed causing the lines of electricity affected. And I don't have a signal on my mobile phone due also to damaged cell sites.

First of all, I gather the possible materials from my craft box, then I choose a thicker texture of fabric for the outside portion of the cosmetics holder, and a thinner fabric for the lining. These fabrics were taken from the old dress and were cut out for the contest's purpose.

Materials:

thicker fabric with design
thinner fabric with the same color
beads
ribbon
scissor
crochet thread
zipper
big needle

Procedure:

I cut first a rectangular shape of the same size of the two fabrics and cut two same measurements of the ribbon to sew across the thicker fabric as shown in the picture. Then I made two inner pockets on the thinner fabric which is the lining, fold it in half, and sewn the edges to form a bag.

I cut another 5inches long ribbon, fold it, and sew to make its holder. I placed it inside on the upper right portion of the folded thicker fabric and sewn its edges to form a bag. Then I used my crochet thread and big needle to make some embroidery following that hollow trail as shown in the picture.

Then I decorated the ribbon below with 3 pearls and another string with lots of pearls that hang on the upper portion of my cosmetics holder using the big needle.

I also crocheted a flower applique to be decorated at the lower-left corner across the ribbon, sewn the folded ribbon to form circular ruffles, and lastly placed a pearl on top of it.

After that, I placed the inner lining which is the thinner fabric inside the thicker fabric bag and sewn the zipper in between the two fabrics for a cleaner result.

And now, I'm proudly presenting to you my cosmetics holder. I enjoyed my time doing this kind of contest and it amazes me as well to the outcome. I was worried then while making this tutorial if I can be able to participate in this contest since I don't have a signal on my phone, but I was still able to finish it and as I was writing this article, the electricwaswere already back, so as the signal.
