Part 8 of our Middle Earth: Shadow of War playthrough picks up some time after the events in part 7. You finished uncovering the secrets of Serghost and have begun recruiting spies and bodyguards from the Overlord’s army. You've used these spies to infiltrate his army and positioned them among his Warchief’s most trusted Captain's.

The Conquest of Seregost

You continue to recruit spies from the Overlord’s ranks and sending them to infiltrate the fortress. Once they have proven themselves in life or death combat in the fight pits they move their way up the ranks. With Celebrimbor’s new ring it is easy to turn their allegiance to suit your will. Each of the Overlords Warchiefs are set up for a double cross and lured from their outposts by their trusted bodyguards. After each is humiliated and executed your spies replace them. The siege plans are set. Once again the easy part will be taking the fortress, the hard part will be dispatching the Overlord. Don’t let his name fool you. Horza the Gentle is not a gentle orc.

Unlike in Nurnen the siege does not go off without a hitch. Horza has discovered one of your spies and executes him by throwing him from the top of the fortress tower. This show of brute strength is intended to demoralize your army. But it hasn’t worked. Your followers are even more determined to crush him. Your forces smash through the fortress wall and move from key choke point to key choke point. Each time the defending general and his troops turn against the Overlord and join your side in battle. You finally enter the throne room to face Horza and his faithful. They are legendary warriors and they earn every bit of that reputation. If not for the help of your allies you would never have taken his fortress. On several occasions one of your Captains swooped in to save you from a swift execution.

After your victory you step out on to the balcony overlooking your great army. You do so holding Horza’s severed head. You hold it up high to a deafening wave of cheers and deliver your speech. If you listen you can hear the thunder of our enemy’s feet as they flee. While we feast in victory they quake fear because they know we are coming for them. Witness the rise of Mordor! Witness the rise of the Bright Lord. With Seregosts fortress now under your control you turn your attention towards the province of Gorgoroth.
