You keep leaving
And coming back.

Love always returns—
You know that.

There are spaces in me
That draw you—
Vacant places
Where you can wander
And not be disturbed,

Meander
And never be lost.

You don’t even need
To hear my voice
To read my thoughts.

And maybe that’s why
Words between us
Sing with music

Not Beethoven,
But the whine
Of high voltage lines.

Opposite polarity does that.

Think of me
As a solitary star,
Thousands of light years away,
But you still see my light
Glimmering
Through a cloudy bay.

I will always be your star
And you will always
Hear my voice.

It may not make sense
To anyone else
But that’s just our way.
