A man’s silence?
I don’t.
Each year
I turn to stone
But somehow
I Endure
If left alone
To ponder stars
And riddle out
The mystery
Of us.
My dreams
Push back darkness
And sleepless,
I lie awake
And picture
Your features.
I try
To understand
This life
We’re leading
That leaves me
More questions
Than answers
To your pleading.
So, wearied
I fall
Into a fitful sleep
And dream
Of shielding you
From things
Dark and bleak...
Keeping you safe
From wind and rain,
Holding you close
In my arms again.
