Thanks, @dreamingirwin - it's a conflicted poem - dawn is the loneliest hour and it heightens the isolation writers experience. The robin mindlessly pecking the lawn is no different than I pecking at my laptop keys, both of us searching for that elusive something that provides some worth. Well, that's my take on it but once I post my opinion is only one among many, and yes, you're right - there is wry humour in there :)
