I'm pleased that you react that way - It's a style I cultivated at seventeen when writing poetry - the narrator's voice and directly involving the reader - Mind you, I departed from it in my first published novel, A Familiar Rain, but when I discovered Jack Finney's novels and stories such as Time and Again and About Time, the first person narrator mode became my preferred voice. Of course writing daily produces that immediacy too - Like tonight, for instance, when I don't have a poem yet, and I have no idea where I'll go with one if I do - so I guess I'm along for the ride too, lol...And if nothing pops tonight, that's okay too - I've learned not to force anything and simply enjoy the moment.
