Rapture.jpg

The sun is shining
The clouds piled high
And children
In the street.

A wind is thundering
In the trees
Lifting me
off my feet.

Such a golden day,
A wonderful time
To be snatched away.

Come, Lord Jesus,
I pray,
Come and snatch
Me away.

Come and take me
in clouds
Let me lose myself
in crowds,

And not care
About a thing
As long as I’m
Not asleep,

Just caught up
In the thrall,
Letting go
Not caring at all.

Here I am
Hearing the call,
Looking down
On the urban sprawl

The houses ticky tack
Now seem to me
So small

And plans I made
Last night
All seem so banal.

But it’s a lovely day
With the wind
Having its way…

It’s sad
To leave, in fact.

Would I be impolite
To want to go back?

Don’t get me wrong
I love your ways

But it’s such a lovely day—

Couldn’t you
Just delay?

I mean,

It’s a thrill
To be swept away…

I’d just prefer
Another day.
