Here in British Columbia Canada, its easy to buy weed. Downtown Vancouver has a lot of medical dispensary's that almost anyone can make a purchase at. Its practically legal unless your in court, and is set to go legal this year (so they say). I really hope we move forward with this since it will take away profits from organized crime. Not everyone is a bad person in this industry, but people are lacing low grade weed, or weed that has been washed to make other marijuana products, with fentanyl which is extremely dangerous. These are greedy unmoral people doing this and it needs to stop. It's not uncommon to hear about 5-10 people overdosing on the same night from a dealer having laced product. Of course the bottom guy that ends up selling it has no clue that its laced and then your in big trouble for selling a minor amount of pot to someone without knowing whats in it. Legalization will stop this from happening, and it needs to stop it now. This will also make it harder for under aged kids to get their hands on it since you will take out access to buy it from other under aged kids that sell it. Most kids don't call older people for weed, they will simply get it off someone from their school who sells it. Pot is bad for the development on the brains for children and this will help keep weed from being in the hands of minors.
A lot of people I know who smoke weed have legit medical reasons for why the smoke, they don't just smoke it for fun. I hope we continue to move in the right direction towards full legalization of this drug. I will never understand how tobacco is legal but marijuana isn't
The free market is clearly showing it needs to be legalized. Lets see if the government of the people, by the people, for the people finally listen.
