This country really has a dark side to it, deep and dark. Down in the sewers and down in the alley-ways, under the freeways and down by the abandoned railroad tracks. Been that way since before my time.
I have been out there with them, some awesome people call the street their home. Living outside of the day to day world. They can spot me and come up talking, they know I will listen. Many people that have the jobs to help them, do not listen to them, these people are just doing a job. Following guidelines, never filling the needs of the hungry and homeless.
Most of the homeless are just like you and me, they just do not have a home. When society walks by, they turn their heads away. Shamed by the look of hunger and the cardboard box they call home. The people walk right by, knowing there is an abandoned home just down the block from where their house is, that could be put to good use. But never mind, this home can't be used unless the greed of the ones above water is satisfied.
So tonight the homeless will return to the fireside of the oil drum, and the card board box to keep the rain off of them for a bit. Yes that will be their night. Sweet dreams to all on the people that are down in the sewers and down in the alley-ways, under the freeways and down by the abandoned railroad tracks.
May your day be filled with peace love joy and blessings.
