by an animal that is almost blind!.......the common bat!

Every night.... not long after sunset.......
about 30 common pipistrelle bats emerge from their roost of a derelict house in Salamanca, Spain....
to go hunting.......and each has an appetite for up to 3,000 insects a night!
Its flight is characteristically very fast and jerky......
as it tunes its orientation with echolocation (sonar) to detect objects in the dark......
Bats....fascinating creatures!
they are almost blind....yet you sometimes get the feeling they see better than us.....
and very useful.....as they eat up to 3000 insects each.....
anyway.....not an easy picture to take.....
enjoy!
