Another family's spot.
I live quite a distance away from a decent beach. Decent in terms of something like this picture below;

Sigh, the life before kids with nothing much to worry about other than where and when the next adventure destination would be. Fast forward 5 years, logistics to me is laborious as f*%k! Ever since the kids were born, I have always wanted them to go outdoor as much as possible and less to urbanize develop malls. Unfortunately, is quite hard to ignore the lure of shopping malls & indoor gym.
Luckily not far away my place lies a very nice Forest Research Institute of Malaysia or FRIM in short. Many locals would have heard about it and if not, better grab a friend an visit. Launch google maps and search for FRIM and you'll get the directions there.
There are plenty of trails for hikers or bikers to enjoy the nature reserve. Bike rental is available too if you don't feel like walking. The picnic area is located quite a decent walking distance from the main entrance. For me, I'll pay a RM7 entrance fee and drive in to save the effort and energy since I'm bringing juniors.

That camping site is quite good as FRIM build platform for tent pitching. There are stairs leading up to our preferred picnic spot, which is a flat patch of sandy sediment with gentle stream of water falls. However, FRIM prohibits open burning including barbecue. Therefore camping without cooking or barbecue isn't going to be any fun, in my opinion.
Recommended to try bare foot walking around and don't worry as I haven't find any leeches. In fact, I don't think there are any at this lower parts of the stream.
There you have it. A frugal way to spend a weekend for the kids to play and enjoy nature while I get to save a little from buying entry tickets into amusement parks or indoor play area in shopping malls. Do give it a visit and let me know your experience.
