Is fighting for what we believe the same as fighting for Ourselves?
That’s an important question to answer to understand the true the true meaning of one’s fighting.
We let ourselves go, influenced by society’s rules. We struggle each day to work and fit the criteria’s that weren´t created by us; we reach the end of the day, sit down, breath in and relax feeling that we are one step closer to our goals (which ever they are…).
But are we better than when we woke? Did we make a difference? Did we take time to look to our inner self?
Are we relaxing just because we completed our daily obligations or for making the best of our day fulfilling all the moments - which could also be of pain and insatisfaction - embracing them…? Did that relaxation came due to our ability of completing professional tasks and the felling that the day it’s done?
I believe the time has come to understand that fighting for what we believe should be subsequently to fighting for ourselves.
If I fight for Justice, Dignity, end of hunger, Love, Compassion (or other things), must I not, first:
Be fair to myself and accept my imperfections;
Dignify the one I am (and my actions) with all quality’s and defects;
Feed my body with nutrients he really needs putting aside all the junk food society offers me;
Worship the fact that I’m alive, even though all I can see is pain, and embrace whatever I’m dealing with, loving it, loving me;
For that, compassion and empathy have the role of allowing me to better understand who I am.
That is why only then, when I’m fighting for myself, for the knowledge of Me, will I be able to fight for what I truly believe.
Thanks,
João
