Day Of Reconciliation
16th December holiday when most strike up a fire to braai meat, enjoy good company and share in a beer, I suppose could be likened to Thanksgiving day.
Yesterday we lit the fire to cook boerewors rolls, late afternoon snack with promise of thunder storms approaching in the evening when one would not be able to enjoy the fire roaring. (Boerewors is a traditional South African sausage.)
Growing up, Soweto neighbours onto to where we lived on the West Rand, why not try a beer brewed from within this now thriving city?
Taste of Soweto Gold was surprisingly pleasant on a muggy hot afternoon it quenched the thirst without any bitter after taste. Although it did not hold frothy head for long, this is no surprise during humid days. Not overly fizzy which made a mild enjoyable drink on stinking hot afternoon.
Taste of boerewors with the beer accentuated the flavour in both, a tasty mix, one I would not hesitate to enjoy again. No headache later, being such a big bottle (something I am not used to) I anticipated wrongly taking over two hours of sheer pleasant sipping.
Down to pricing..., this is becoming an issue with prices rising, beer must have been at a special price before Christmas as I paid lower than normally advertised, price paid ZAR 19 (UD$ 1.08), 750ml bottle of beer, normally priced around ZAR 21, quantity and quality this beer is a 'no brainer'.
