Rain, love it or hate it's arrival, sometimes gentle soothing, refreshing always up to interpretation. Sudden downpour catching you unaware, or prolonged rains that start flooding, never frown we need the water.
Starting older songs working our way through time with songs about rain, some fun reasons attached to enjoyment in savouring tunes over the years.
"Singin' in the Rain" 1952 - Gene Kelly : Movie we were taken to big screen when young, a treat with my Aunt. Watch to the end puddle hopping, a great trend when we were young..., or not so young, now we tend to end up in the middle, Rain brings much joy when not flooding our lands, smell it arrive watch it fall enjoy vibrant relief all enjoy!
Song written in 1929
Music by Nacio Herb Brown
Lyrics by Arthur Freed
Originally from The Hollywood Revue of 1929
Sung by Gene Kelly as Don Lockwood
Rain 1970 -The Beatles : Many might not know this number, not surprising as it was hidden on the B side of single released "Paperback Writer" never making it to an LP recording that I know of. Teenagers when broke (no cash) bought the latest released seven-single which is what my oldest brother often did when still doing his year of conscription, when back at the Navy we tucked into his collection to enjoy the latest!
A song many may have missed, I think it's awesome.
November Rain - Guns N' Roses - Written lead vocalist Axl Rose, released 1991. Having sons both born early 1980s this was a group introduced to me by them. We never too old to listen to new releases, brilliant opening piano rendition, epic hard-rock power ballad I still enjoy today.
