I am still not in the mood to hit some metal, so let's go for some Punk Rock for this week's #ThreeTuneTuesday. I figured it must be nice to talk about the Ramones, because I am a die hard fan.
I honestly didn't know the Ramones were big during their time, somewhere between 1975 and the 80s. I don't really care whether a band is famous or not, really.
How did I discover them? Back in college, while we were writing our thesis, we were playing The Smiths on the PC, and their song came on. The very first song I heard was "Baby I Love You," so I searched the band and played more of their songs.
Later on, I learned the Ramones weren't actual relatives, they adopted the pseudonym "Ramone," inspired by Paul McCartney's early stage name, "Paul Ramon." So like they treated themselves as Paul's minions? Well, I am a Beatles fan too, so I am not surprsed if they did that.
Not to mention, the Ramones are one of the few bands who started punk rock... I just learned that fact now.
Poison Heart
It's a personality. Just kidding. I mean, there really are people who would go out of their way to make your life uncomfortable. Don't take it personally..They might just have a poisoned heart.
Just as much as we want to dodge these people (like this bitch in my workplace), they are persistent. Like, triggering you and getting a reaction out of you is a milestone they have to celebrate. What a sad life they have...
Pet Sematary
There's a very funny and annoying story I have with my ex. He pretended he liked the Ramones, only to get caught being totally clueless about them when I started talking about Stephen King's books (he likes reading too). I stared at him until he realized how dumb he was ...what an idiot. Idk, I always associate my tantrums with him, lol. I hope he remembers that, 'coz imagine I had to put up with that only because I fell in love with him. It was no big deal, but I was so disappointed. I mean, you don't have to pretend to like something when you don't ... that's stupid.
So yeah, Stephen King was an avid Ramones fan, and they actually made this song for his book. Although yeah, I never read those.. wish I were brave, but sorry, I am not. My head is already too unstable to handle that, although I've heard his books are really good.
I Wanna Be Sedated
It's one of my favorite song. It's actually the theme song of my life. Lol.
Isn't it crazy that most famous bands talk mostly about being lonely in their songs despite having the spotlight, the money, and all that? It's lonely at the top, they say.
And of course, if you're a Ramones fan too, you'd hate me for not including this song...
Blitzkrieg Bop
Yeah, it's a German phrase, but chill, it has nothing to do with war or the Holocaust (people love to overthink that one) Sometimes you just need to listen to the music instead of dissecting every lyric like a psycho...
There you go... I hope you enjoyed the Ramones as much as I do.
I am mostly happy these days.. but today, found myself being only a few strands away from throwing a fit. Someone tried to pick a fight in the workplace while we were having a meeting, and I'm here contemplating which level of crazy I should unleash, because seriously?! Don't try me.. not during this time of the month.
But you know while i was writing this i realized how lucky I am to be able to find genuine people here and in real life, my bestie was up as early as 4:00am ..patiently listening to my absurdity.. "Your students feedback matter more than her criticism and it's not like you're friends.. what's up with how you talk? that demure prudish shit" she said, we're friends for a reason, lol..
All these love around me are actually grounding me.. and you are part of that too..I always say this but I will say it again.. thank you for keeping up with my madness ..
