Avian Illustration Detailed Books
Everyone on Hive knows I nuts about birds, bird watching, photography. Where did this passion come from, growing up right in my backyard with my Dad pointing out the birds on wing up in the Transvaal, coming and going with seasonal change.
Treasured moments in the garden or away on holidays, now I inherited what Dad purchased in 1974 the Second Edition of birds so brilliantly illustrated with detail on each region where one may be fortunate to see them on wing.
Art illustration on each bird is a masterpiece in itself, description placed neatly on opposite page for quick reference.
Detailed to a point when sometimes I sit and go through them to see the vibrant colours, enjoy the effort and works of artists that spent so much time giving us the enjoyment from delightful smell of pages and ink to exquisite art.
Eventually four books arrived being the full collection, although they appear inexpensive now these books were saved for, a careful purchase during years of bringing children up.

Original envelope, imagine the excitement when post arrived, waiting in anticipation for parents to arrive and reveal the contents, yes post was delivered to the home, pity they spelled our surname wrong, but heck they had the right address.
One of my favourites to witness, looking at the drawing one sees the fine detail which still amazes me how accurate the depiction is.
More Modern Bird Book With Wand
About eight years ago my sons surprised me with this updated book in photography that on most photographs you are able to wave the call finder wand to listen to the birds calls.
When away in places where there is no internet to identify the bird or call, this book has become an nifty helper in on the spot identification, what a great gift to receive....
Now a brief detail on how this book works is handy on the back cover, oh smell the ink, feel the glossy pages!
Addicted to birds guilty as charged, a lifetime passion along with old fashioned books which I hang onto and treasure are my bird books.
