Like a great deal of my abstract works, this abstract expressionism drawing somehow decided what it wanted to be in the end. I made random marks using pen and marker on paper, and it gradually began to look like the head of a horse. When I saw this, I developed what I saw even further.
Line and texture play out in mysterious ways in my recent works. I can see faces and familiar shapes everywhere. I asked a friend what they saw in some of my pieces, and it was striking to realize that we saw the same shapes and figures.
