Here is another experiment with various mediums for this #trippythursday
This time I am playing around with graphite and other things like blending stubs and electric erasures. I had some amazon gift cards so I cashed them in for a set of different HB lead pencils as well as a mechanical pencil set with different thickness/softness of leads.
I had an old page that got some marker bleed on it so I thought why not test out a gradient of soft lead to hard lead. Then I tested a blending stub on the various tones.
At first I though this page would just be a scratch page for marking things and testing things but I got carried away doodling. I ended up incorporating the marker bleed and built some shapes around my initial blend test.
Now its turning into an isometric layering project. With the varying softness of leads I started playing around with focusing the eye around the composition with lights and darks.
As I proceeded I realized it needed some blue tape to keep the lead from smudging the edges. I'm mostly used to working with ballpoint pen so smudging isn't as much as a problem as with lead.
Now farther on into the experiment I brought in some mechanical pencil precision to add texture along side the blended graphite.
I also wanted to test out my electric erasure on some of the dark areas to add texture. It was surprising how well it worked. You can go to a really blended dark areas and place highlights easily. I suspect I am only 1/3 of the way into the process so far so who knows how the final composition will turn out. Eventually all the process will become combined frame by frame into a video.
That's all for now, more soon. Thanks for looking :-)
