Pottery Glazing Problems Continue - Where are the Potters?

Making handmade pottery from a ball of clay is an artform that takes years to develop. One of the earlier skills is just trying to make something useful or beautiful from a ball of clay on the wheel. After that step is mastered, then comes the design skill. Some people are better than others at applying color, carving the surface or decorating the piece while it is still pliable or leather hard. Imagine that if you get through all of that at a level that is satisfactory to you, and that you make it to the final step which is firing your piece in the kiln. Voila! Instead of the master piece that you have been working on for days or weeks, you get blisters or pin holes in the glaze. Arrrrgh!

This is so frustrating to me. I am going to need some professional help to figure this out. I am going to take my fired pottery to the pottery store to speak to the professionals. I need someone to give me their fact based opinion on my problem. I don't have the fortitude to continue working on something that gives me hit or miss results.

I really like the colors and the design that I chose for these two pieces. I wanted them to have more of a decorative flair than just one plain color. I really like the shallow dish and the contrast between the white and black. I used a fan brush to give the feather like strokes on the outside of the dish.

Did you know that there are no other potters currently on this platform? I tried searching for other potters using the search tool on Steempeak but I only found people who use to post years or many months ago.

If there are some other potters using this platform, then they don't post about their work. I would love for there to be a whole community of potters where we could share ideas, suggestions and helpful hints. The @needleworkmonday community is such a group. There are many people using this platform that have years of experience and knowledge about needlework and they can quickly spot problems, give helpful hints and resources to newbies.

Another new community is the Steem Artstation that has just gotten started on the beta Steemit site by @midlet.

I joined that community but I don't have a lot of work to contribute yet because I am still learning and enhancing my drawing skills. This particular community is for traditional and digital artists.

Where is the pottery community? I need help!
