One of my relatives gave me a small fleece blanket for Christmas. It folds easily and fits in my carry-on bag, so I used it on the airplane as a travel blanket.
The airlines used to provide a small thin blanket for you if you got chilly during a plane ride. The majority of airlines no longer provide that service unless you are flying in the first class cabin.
I decided to use my gift as my own personal travel blanket. I also decided that I would add a little something special on the blanket with my embroidery machine. I decided on a butterfly and my hive name of Jluvs2fly.
I changed my bobbin in the machine from the standard white to a purple to match the color of the embroidery thread that I was using. I usually just use white no matter what color are use on top of the fabric.
I used tear away stabilizer on the bottom, and water soluble stabilizer on top of the blanket. I also used my 5 x 7“ magnetic hoop instead of the standard hoop that came with the machine. I prefer floating the fabric on the magnetic hoop instead of clamping it down with the standard hoop.
The design that I used for my blanket is one of the free designs that came installed in the machine. I also used a font that was installed in the machine.
The butterfly that I used actually had several colors in it, but I chose not to add the extra colors. The blanket already has a geometric pattern on it and I felt like the other colors would make the butterfly too busy.
Using the same color thread in the bobbin worked out very well.
The butterfly and my name on my blanket add a nice touch to a great gift for me. Enjoy your evening.
