The people of my hometown, Montalbán, have not had it easy throughout practically all the years of this 21st century; thus, they are used to almost anything happening and also to overcoming it as best they can, without expecting help from any government entity or anything of the sort. And this is a small town, somewhat more forgotten than normal, with a constant decrease in its population and a local economy that continuously shrinks. So, even in the face of the recent events related to the seismic event of last June 24th, the townspeople end up doing what they always do: "continue"... And they do this not because they are indifferent, but because they are used to hard times. There is even a very common saying here among the ordinary townspeople, which goes more or less like this: "We have tough skin like a tortoise shell from taking so many beatings"... Therefore, we are a town somewhat accustomed to complications and shortcomings, and although this makes us remarkably resilient, I particularly would not know whether to say if it is entirely good or not; but the truth is that this is how it happens, and it is impossible not to notice it...

La gente de mi pueblo, Montalbán, no la ha tenido fácil a lo largo de prácticamente los años que van de este siglo XXI; así que están acostumbrados a que ocurra casi cualquier cosa y también a sobreponerse como mejor puedan, sin esperar la ayuda de ningún ente gubernamental o algo por el estilo. Y es que este es un pueblo pequeño y un poco más olvidado de lo normal, con una disminución constante de su población y con una economía local que se comprime continuamente. Así que, incluso ante los últimos acontecimientos relativos al evento sísmico del pasado 24 de junio, las personas del pueblo terminan por hacer lo que siempre hacen: "continuar"... Y esto lo hacen no por ser indiferentes, sino por estar acostumbradas a los tiempos duros. Incluso hay un dicho muy común aquí entre la gente del pueblo de a pie, el cual reza más o menos así: "Tenemos el cuero duro como la concha de un morrocoy de tanto llevar palos"... Entonces, somos un pueblo un tanto acostumbrado a las complicaciones y carencias, y aunque esto nos hace notablemente resilientes, yo particularmente no sabría decir si es algo del todo bueno o no; pero lo cierto es que así ocurre y es imposible no notarlo...
