The record of this individual was made at 800 m.a.s.l. on the edge of the low forests of the mountains of Montalbán (Carabobo, Central North Coastal Region of Venezuela).

It is not a common species and because of that I feel very lucky to come across one and to be able to take some photos. Moreover, they are usually very nervous and perform really amazing movements at dizzying speeds (hence their common name of "red acrobat").

There is limited information on this species available online, however with the support of some friends on social networks (in entomology groups and the like) I got the suggestion regarding the species and after that I explored some specialised pages whose links I refer to at the end of this publication.

Specimens have been recorded from Mexico to Bolivia and including some regions of northern Argentina. Apparently it can present medium colour variations ranging from orange to soft chestnut brown, which makes it easily confused with similar species, being the most feasible to rely on the wing marking patterns for a more accurate identification.

Thank you for sharing and appreciating. We will see you again soon with more species for sure. ;-)
