This town isn't exactly a beautiful place anymore, but that very decline in the aesthetics of its streets has turned it into an endless wellspring of street scenes; at least from my point of view... And besides, I myself am part of these streets, because I've always been here and I understand their stories and memories as my own...
Y adem谩s, yo mismo soy parte de estas calles, porque siempre he estado aqu铆 y entiendo sus historias y memorias como m铆as...

I walk down the street and I see the old Ford pickup truck from the Barela family's grocery store (馃摲 01 and 02) and I think about how I've seen it since the 80s and how it's been painted several times with the same old shade of green...

The streets here "move by" very quickly, and I might be remembering my teacher Trina while gazing into her old window (馃摲 03), and then be interrupted by the voices of a group of boys resting under a shaded corner who want me to take their picture there (馃摲 04)... And a few meters further on, another old window (馃摲05), one of those that are still abundant here, gives me an almost anarchic view of time passing between shadows and light...
Y pocos metros m谩s all谩, otra vieja ventana (馃摲05), de esas que aqu铆 abundan a煤n, me regala una visi贸n casi an谩rquica del tiempo pasando entre sombras y luces...

And it's not everywhere you can walk down the street and feel like someone is watching you, and that "someone" is a huge rooster (馃摲 06) perched over a makeshift metal fence, because if there's one thing Montalb谩n has, it's that the rural and the urban blend together without too many rules or limits... And Juan "The Guard" (馃摲 07) seems a little more lucid when someone gives him a beer, which he drinks with pleasure outside a liquor store... And, a few streets later, "Nana" (馃摲 07) sits waiting on the sidewalk outside a bakery for someone to give her a coffee... How could I not go out and take street photos here?, I often think to myself...

And neglect and decay are also serious matters here, because places are becoming lonely and abandoned, like the once thriving Barbershop of Franklin and Fernando (馃摲 09) and the old School (馃摲 10), but even that has its own narrative and charm for a street photographer...

There are places "frozen in time," like the corner by the pharmacy with Rodolfo's old Chevrolet pickup truck (馃摲 11), which he uses as a kiosk to sell his merchandise. But there's also a certain dynamism that I can capture photographically in the streets; like in that photo (馃摲 12) on Miranda Avenue, where a motorcycle passes by while I was trying to photograph a repair shop for brush cutters and electric generators.

And speaking of "frozen in time," the old bicycle repair and knife-sharpening shop (馃摲 13 and 14) is precisely that; besides containing a touch of surrealism for always being empty, full of old artifacts, even though it's open without anyone coming in as a customer...
And the last photo (馃摲 15) is a small sample of what I can see on the walls of the town, and that's a task I have pending, to do an update of this kind of thing and share it here with you on #Hive...
Thank you very much for your visit and appreciation!
