September unfolds much as it always does: the days are hot, with sudden, heavy downpours interrupting afternoons of scorching sun, yet the mornings bring a fog so thick it makes some of the town’s streets seem to have neither beginning nor end... Yet this year, the town feels more broken; the downpours are fiercer, as if intent on further scarring the already battered pavement of streets that are crumbling away... And the fog, too—good grief, it seems denser than ever some mornings, seemingly capable of "bending" time itself; 6:30 AM feels not like a mere moment, but a long, drawn-out hour with far too many minutes, as if it wanted to linger here longer than it should... Yes, it is a September just like any other, only—it seems to me—with everything dialed up a notch... And these brief fables come to mind amidst the silhouettes of people emerging from the street’s white curtain, dogs appearing out of nowhere to bark briefly before vanishing, and old vehicles that seem to stand guard over facades cracking from the damp and the aftershocks that keep occurring—though no one speaks of them anymore... That is what these photos are like—just like September, really...

Septiembre corre más o menos como siempre lo hace septiembre: Los días son Calurosos, con copiosos aguaceros inesperados que interrumpen las tardes de sol abrazador, pero con mañanas de niebla densa, tan densa qué hasta sirve para que algunas calles del pueblo parezcan no tener ni comienzo ni fin... Sin embargo, este año el pueblo parece más roto, los aguaceros son más recios, como sí quisiesen herir aún más el pavimento ya maltrecho de las calles que se desmoronan.... Y también la niebla, caray, este año parece más densa que nunca durante algunas mañanas, y parece poder "torcer" el tiempo, y las 6:30 AM parece no un momento, sino una hora larga con muchos más minutos, como si quisiera quedarse aquí más tiempo del que le toca... Sí, es un septiembre como siempre septiembre es, pero con más dosis, me parece... Y a mi se me ocurren estas breves fábulas, entre siluetas de personas que aparecen entre la cortina blanca de las calles, entre perros que aparecen de la nada, ladran un poco y se marchan, entre vehículos viejos que parecen vigilar las fachadas que se quiebran por la humedad y las réplicas de temblores que siguen ocurriendo, pero que ya nadie comenta... Y así son estas fotos, como septiembre pues...
