Yes, every time I observe myself wandering the streets and taking photographs, it becomes clearer and clearer that all of this has been a journey through my own life. And I know that some of you who follow my photography blog on #Hive already know quite a bit about how I ended up documenting the streets almost daily and about my relationship with the people, animals, things, places, and even memories of my town. But today I want to tell you, even just a little, about how every hour I've spent wandering the streets with my camera in hand has ended up becoming an exercise in acute and, at times, painful introspection... I started taking photos as therapy... But it all began, I think, after I finished high school at 15 (the youngest in my class). By 21, I had already graduated from university, was working at a company, happily married, and had a two-year-old son. So, with everything in my life moving so fast, it wasn't surprising that at 34 I was already the brand-new national IT manager of a local corporation and that I was also spending some of my afternoons on a psychologist's couch telling him how work stress was slowly killing me 馃檭馃し鈥嶁檪... And well, the truth is that things happen as they're meant to, because it was precisely all of that that led me to photography as part of a more comprehensive therapy which, by the way, included antidepressant medication, something which, fortunately, I no longer need... And well, what I wanted to say was that, in a way, photography, my passion for it I mean, is one of the main factors that helped me "get myself out of the hole I dug myself into"... And wow, now looking back, seeing "my own journey" as I started thinking earlier today; I've concluded that everything is better now and that my mind is much lighter; it's a very light space. And I think I observed myself so much that I ended up throwing overboard a lot of what was weighing me down... And I know there's still a way to go, that the journey is even longer, but I also know that I'm doing more or less okay...
