MY SIXTH MONTH IN HIVE: So Far So Good 😊

I want to start by saying that I always had a vision where I would create contents and have an audience to relate with. I had thought of applications like YouTube but I never took the bold step. Not until 6 months ago when @monica-ene introduced me to this life changing platform. I will share with us what has made #hive a life changing platform particularly for me.

I am a Medical Doctor by Profession and a writer by Passion. It had always been my passion to create contents and relate with fellow content creators. I want to state emphatically that hive has taught me two major skills in addition to content creation: consistency and engagement.

When I first came on-board hive in October 2022, @monica-ene kept encouraging and motivating me to be consistent on hive. It was a herculean task having to combine my work as a medic in civil service, clinical practice in a private hospital after the close of office work, family engagements and now hive? Well, a couple of times, I seemed to pity her and she may have felt she was pushing me too far by asking me to post more often. At some points, I may not even post in a whole week because I could barely survive the week. I was motivated also by some content creators she pointed out to me. And yes, I was discouraged by my TINY upvotes. It seemed like my works were not appreciated. I of course later realized I was going about it the wrong way. I had to work on my mind, aligning my mind with my passion first before any gains. It was when I wrote for the sake of content creation that I found encouragement as to what came in or not.

My onboarder realized I was making little or no engagements and she tutored me in the right direction. If I wanted my contents appreciated, it is proper to appreciate the contents of others. And now, even without creating my own contents, I have found it a habit to appreciate contents of other creators. I will not fail to mention my favourite communities, though I had a tough time aligning with their rules but eventually found them very helpful. My best critique and yet community that I have found to have a niche for is #theinkwell

At the start, I was corrected and redirected to the rules of the community and most of my errors were done in ignorance but I think for now, I have been able to align with the community rules and type of posts wanted in the community.

#hivelearners is one group I found fascinating and quite engaging. My onboarder @monica-ene encouraged me to join them and get verified. I began to engage on the discord meetings also though I knew the people there were already one and it would take me a long chase to get to know and familiarize with others in the community. My hive journey will not be complete if I do not mention the prompts given to members to vote and write on. Some I had thought I could not write anything about but with a spur of optimism, I was able to develop contents in line with the topics. Their periodic prompts have enabled me also to have something to write upon so I do not have to be stranded for days that may run into weeks. I specially appreciate all the moderators of #hivelearners as it has been a wonderful journey so far and very good for me 😊.

My engagements on hive has brought me to meet and appreciate special people that I may not be able to mention all.

In 2002, I was the second best in National common entrance examinations for my state, Kwara State - Nigeria. I felt I was brilliant😂, not until I got admitted to Gifted Academy in Suleja where few and top of the bright and best minds from the country were admitted into the school. My first term result made me realize I was in the midst of great minds as my position in class was 19 out of 24 students (do not laugh at me please 😂).

I told the above story because, I thought I was good but having to read contents from great minds like @kemmyb @josediccus @burlarj @edicted @dwayne16 @vickoly @gloriaolar @marilour @johnuko @erikah @mipiano @jaydr and a few others (and YES, I am in the business of meeting great minds everyday and as wide as this goes, I'll be glad to be your friend 😊) who have greatly impacted on my skill of content creation, I Thank you all 🤗

So, my engagement has been fair but I know I can do better and I will not relent in engaging and being consistent in my participation on hive.

So far so Good has summarized itself (meaning so far I have come, it really has been good and worthwhile).
